Between July 1 and October 8, 2026 we completed 149 carpet jobs across Nassau and Suffolk; the median ticket was $280, half of all jobs landed between $200 and $400, and one in three included a staircase or hallway.
The ranges higher up on this page are a fair picture of the market. This section is narrower: it is our own dispatch data for Long Island, 100 days from July 1 to October 8, 2026. In that window we completed 380 paid jobs in Nassau and Suffolk, and 149 of them included carpet. The median carpet ticket was $280. A quarter of carpet jobs came in under $200 and a quarter came in over $400.
Strip out the jobs where carpet was bundled with a sofa, rug or mattress and you are left with 120 carpet-only jobs. Those had a median of $268, with the middle half of customers paying $180 to $375. Only 8 of the 120 paid under $150, 57 paid between $150 and $299, 34 paid $300 to $499, and 21 paid $500 or more. So the honest one-line answer for a Long Island carpet job is: most people pay somewhere between $180 and $375, and the typical bill is about $270.
The table below breaks those 120 carpet-only jobs down by the number of rooms written on the ticket. The counts get thin past three rooms, which is why the four-, five- and six-room rows swing around; a five-room job at $150 was a light maintenance clean on small rooms, and a five-room job at $650 had stairs and heavy soil.

Steam cleaning starts at $25 per room with a three-room minimum. Yet the median one-room ticket in this period was $200, and that gap deserves a plain explanation. Almost nobody on Long Island has one bare room and nothing else. Fifty of the 149 carpet jobs, one in three, had a staircase or a hallway on them. A staircase is $3 per step, so a typical 13-step flight from the front hall to the bedrooms adds about $40, and a hallway counts as its own area. A Woodmere customer in August booked one room and paid $200 once the technician walked the house; an East Northport customer in July booked one room and paid $180 the same day.
The second reason is soil level. The starting price covers steam cleaning on a carpet in normal condition. When the technician finds years of ground-in traffic lanes, heavy spotting or a carpet that has never been cleaned, the room needs pre-treatment and extra passes, and the written price reflects that. A Deer Park customer in August paid $150 for one room for that reason, a Mastic Beach job in July was a single room at $150, and two rooms in Baldwin came to $175.
The third reason is pets. Nineteen of our completed Long Island jobs in this period carried a pet treatment, which is a separate enzyme step on the affected spots and is priced on the ticket before the work begins. The fourth is add-ons the customer asks for once the truck is there: an Amityville customer in July booked two rooms, then added the hallway and a recliner, and paid $220 for all of it. None of this is a surprise at the door. The technician writes the price, shows it, and starts only after you agree.

On the other side, the same list of items can come in lower on a repeat visit. An Elmont customer who paid $500 for five rooms, twelve steps and two rugs on a previous visit paid $300 this September for a lighter maintenance clean. The price follows the condition of the carpet, not the size of the house alone.
We use one price list across Long Island, so the difference between counties is in the homes, not the rates. Our busiest carpet towns in this period were Bay Shore with 10 completed jobs, Southampton with 8, then Huntington Station, Woodmere, Wantagh, East Hampton and Valley Stream with 5 each, followed by Port Washington, Jericho, Elmont and Hewlett with 4 each. Nassau jobs cluster around the $160 to $375 range: a Woodmere staircase at $160, a one-room emergency in Port Washington at $280, two rugs on site plus a staircase in Port Washington at $300, two rooms in Merrick at $375.
Western and central Suffolk looks similar: a Mastic Beach room at $150, two rooms with a hallway and recliner in Amityville at $220, one room in Bay Shore at $250 with the sofas quoted separately, three rooms with a mattress in Deer Park at $500. The East End is where tickets grow, because the houses are larger, there is more carpet per room and the furniture usually goes on the same ticket. A Hampton Bays customer had carpet and sofas done together for $575, and the Westhampton and Water Mill jobs above were both over $1,000.
